Updated "Swansong" Mix

I have my newest tune, "Swansong", up on the site and remixed a little. Enjoy!

New MP3: "Swansong"

It's been a good eight months since I wrote a song, so when it was brought to my attention that my five year Songfightaversary was coming up, I decided to put together a song for this week's contest for old times' sake. You can listen and download it here! The fight title is "Stomach For It", but I'm renaming my entry to "Swansong". While you're there, take a listen to the other great tunes and be sure to vote for your favorites!

Who'd You Vote For?

I won't preach that you should go out and vote, because you've either heard it a hundred times today, or you're living in a cave. But I am curious who you loverly readers voted for. So it's poll time!

Interviews

Hey everyone, sorry for the quietness around here lately. Things have been a little crazy. :) But I've got some new tunes in the works that should be trickling out shortly. In the meantime, I wanted to pass along a couple links to new interviews I've done recently.

I'm featured in this month's issue of Findlay Living magazine. It's pretty accurate, though I don't recall ever playing at the Springs of Life café for some odd reason. :D

I was also interviewed for the GarageBand.com newsletter this month. That was pretty cool, because it goes out to over 90,000 people. The full text of it is in the "Read More" below...

Announcing: "Here Today" Remixed

My first CD sucked.

Ok, that might have been a little harsh. Since 2004, I've been constantly haunted by "Here Today". The songs are great, probably some of the best I've written (since they were the best of everything I'd done up to that point in my life). But the recording. Yikes. The performances and the production were laughable, and not even close to the standards of the other CDs that followed. That's why it's been "out of print" for awhile now.

Then, one day, I had a flash of brilliance. I still had the raw sessions laying around in my closet, trapped inside an external 9 GB SCSI drive that sounds like a 747 taking off, attached to a Roland VS-1680 recorder. I decided on the spot: I'm going to pull those raw recordings into my modern computer recording workstation and see if I can't make a listenable album out of them.

My self-imposed limits:

  1. Use only what was recorded back then. No new recordings.
  2. Keep the spirit of the arrangements intact.
  3. Use any tools I have to make the existing audio sound better.

The result is both stunningly improved and only subtly different. Take a listen for yourself, or pick up a copy of the newly-back-in-print CD or FLAC version from my store. :)

Live "Stickybee" Video

Here's a video of the encore from last night, "Stickybee", with Jamie Dull and Brad Roll. Fear the rock! (Sorry about the crappy audio and the mic stand in front of my face)

Thanks!

Thanks so much for everyone for coming and packing the place for my first show back from hiatus. It was so much fun to be back. Extra special thanks to Jamie Dull, Brad Roll and Marshall Miller for stepping up and helping me rock out full-band style. That's the most fun I've had in ages, and I'm truly lucky to have such great friends on both sides of the stage.

Hopefully there will be video posted soon! And stay tuned for something interesting in the coming days!

I just finished up practicing with Jamie Dull, Brad Roll and Marshall Miller for this Saturday's rock extravaganza at Coffee Amici. Let me just say that you don't want to miss it. :)

Amici Next Saturday!

Just a reminder to come on down to Coffee Amici in lovely Findlay Oh-hi-ya next Saturday, the 13th. There will be some very special sekrit guests, including a full-band ROCK set!

Oh, and I've been working on an interesting little project that will be unleashed that day, as well. ;-)

Sarah Palin?

Am I the only one who thinks that Tina Fey needs to come back to Saturday Night Live until November, now that McCain has picked Sarah Palin for his VP slot? Come to think about it, why not just go straight to the source and nominate Tina herself. She could play herself very convincingly on SNL, and she's just as qualified as Palin is to be VP...

"I'm Letting Go" Video

Massive gratitude to Saúl Molina from Mexico for creating this amazing video for "I'm Letting Go". Check out the high-def version for the full effect.

And check out his other amazing videos and his website!

Findlay Live-ish
Ok, so I'm a moron - the interview was taped at 1:00 today, but won't actually air until a later date. But I think it went well (meaning I was able to form strings of syllables that mostly parse correctly in the English language), so I'll keep you updated on when you'll actually be able to hear it. :) There'll also be a Findlay Living article based on the interview coming up at some point, so that's pretty swanky, too. Much love to WLFC!

FLAC Files Now For Sale

By popular demand, you can now purchase my albums in downloadable .FLAC format from my store. At the bottom of the form, there's a drop-down that lets you select .FLAC downloads instead of snail mailed CDs. There's no shipping for this option; a link to download will be sent to your email address. Let me know if you have any problems with the ordering system. This doesn't replace my MP3 downloads, which will always be free.

For those who aren't familiar with the .FLAC format, they contain 100% CD-quality audio in about half the space of the raw audio. MP3s are smaller still, but they do this at the tradeoff of audio quality.

This is probably the closest thing I'll ever offer to a "tip jar", so if you want to support my music but don't care about antiquated shiny discs, here ya go. As with all the funds from my album sales, every dollar gets invested back into studio equipment so that I can make even better albums in the future!

Radio Interview Tomorrow

Hey, local-type folks! Tune in to 88.3 WLFC tomorrow (Tuesday the 12th) at 1:00 pm. I'll be doing a live interview, and maybe even sneaking in an acoustic performance of a song. It'll be spifftacular.

Me, On Stage

It's been the better part of a year that I've been taking a break from gigging. My battery's recharged. It's time to hit the stage again. You should come to Coffee Amici on September 13th, and bring a hardhat, because I'll be delivering a year's worth of stored up rock.

I may sneak into an occasional open mic before then, just to relearn how to play.
